Clear Backpacks
The need for clear backpacks (also known as see-through or transparent backpacks) was first put forward by schools in 1998 in order to provide school safety. Nowadays schools in over 35 states have mandated carrying transparent bags and backpacks in response to the violence which occurred in a number of them.
You have probably heard stories about children bringing handguns, knives and drugs to their school and read many articles about school shootings. School violence has indeed become nationwide problem our children face each day. And the requirement for see-through backpacks seems to be viable solution as it is already showing positive results. Some school districts have reported a 50% drop in expulsions caused by guns and drugs.
There are two main reasons why transparent backpacks can be helpful. Firstly, they let teachers and students see what other peers are carrying, which allows them to track and deter those with illegal and dangerous items brought into the buildings. Secondly, it prevents potential disturbers from making the attempt because they will be aware it is not easy to hide their contraband. Given that 50% of guns children bring to campuses are aimed for ‘showing-and-telling’, would-be student offenders will think twice in the face of the prospect of being revealed.
In addition, the clear backpacks prevent children from bringing distracting items into the school that are not supposed to be there. They include Pokemon Cards, Game Boys, Walkmans and many others.
Students themselves also benefit from carrying such backpacks. They don’t need to empty things out looking for their pens, books or iPods and then repack again. It will save time and confusion as well as allow children to be better prepared for classes, tests and exams.
See-through backpacks are especially convenient for children just starting school. Usually teachers spend time unzipping their backpacks and checking whether they brought necessary articles like lunch money, notes, etc. If the backpack is clear, it makes that process quicker. Besides, it helps to keep kids well organized.
Today not only schools but sports venues, prisons, hospitals, bus companies, nursing homes, high-tech companies and other workplaces require their employees to have see-through bags and backpacks to enhance security. This also decreases the wait time in line at security checkpoints and makes the process of checking the bags easier and quicker. Instead of having your backpacks searched and emptied, security can clearly view the contents and ask you to remove anything that looks suspicious.
Safety has now become one of the main concerns in public places and if we have nothing inside our bags that we need to hide, why not to use transparent bags in such places? If we have some personal items, we could carry them in a separate smaller bag which is easier to check.
Besides that, see-through backpacks simply come into fashion. They allow individuals (especially kids) to show off their belongings which look good and pretty inside. Some even intentionally decorate their carried articles to demonstrate them in public. Whatever the reason, more and more people now get interested in having clear backpacks.
